The Inter University Centre for Social Science Research and Extension (IUCSSRE), Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam is conducting a State Govt-supported survey on on behalf of the Kerala State Planning Board. The study would trace the ‘habitat transitions’ and their impact on the tribal livelihood and their internal dispositions (‘habitus transitions’). The tribes being studied are Malaya Arayan, Mannan, Muthuvan, Urali, Ulladan, Mala Pulayan, Paliyan, Mala vedan, Malaipandaram, and Kanikkaran.
As part of the study, IUCSSRE is organizing a Tribal workshop on Thursday, 20 October at Municipal Town Hall, Thodupuzha, from 10 AM to 4 PM with the participation of tribal communities and their leaders.
