Workshop on ‘Social Audit Under MGNREGA
The Inter University Centre for Social Science Research and Extension (IUCSSRE), Mahatma Gandhi University is organising a workshop on Friday, 6 October on the theme “Social Audit Under MGNREGA” at IUCSSRE Conference Hall, Priyadarshini Hills, Kottayam.
This is intended to be a pilot workshop in connection with the State Plan-supported project on the “Effectiveness of Social Audit in Local Development Programmes: An Evaluation Study of Social Audit under the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA in Select Districts of Kerala.” IUCSSRE is mandated to study the social audit experiences in Kozhikode, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Pathanamthitta districts. Kottayam district is taken as a pilot case. Experts and those involved in social audit will provide insights and feedback regarding the potential and limits of the social audit. A select group of personnel/representatives from all Blocks and a few GPs, besides officials of NREGSS, Kottayam.
Dr. BS Thirumeni, Chairman, Appellate Authority (Ombudsman) MGNREGS, will deliver the introductory lecture. Dr N. Ramakanthan, Director of the Social Audit Unit, Govt of Kerala will deliver the keynote address.
