The IUCSSRE organizes its activity through two units, namely, Gender Studies and Women Empowerment Centre, and Human Ecology-Human Geography Centre. The major research areas are—Gender Studies, Social Theory, Social Praxis, Human Ecology, Human Geography and Social History. The following are the major academic programmes/activities undertaken by the Centre since 2011.
The IUCSSRE offers admission to PhD programme in inter-disciplinary areas. Admission is based on the University Regulations. The courses offered for PhD include Inter Disciplinary Social Science Methodology, Sustainable Rural Livelihood, Gender Participation in Common Resource Management, Spatial Logic of Urbanisation and History and Social Anthropology of Urban Space: Exploring Architecture and Technology etc. An open course on Gender and Society has also been in place. During the period from December 2020 to June 2021, the Centre has organized Social Science Research Methodology programmes, arranged several public lecture series and organized Special Web-Lectures in association with the interdisciplinary centres of the University.
