Inter University Centre for Social Science Research and Extension (IUCSSRE), Mahatma Gandhi University is organizing a workshop on the crisis in the rubber plantation sector on Friday, 13 January at the Convergence Academica Complex on the campus. The workshop is organized in association with the Gulati Institute of Finance and Taxation (GIFT) and the Department of Economics, St. Dominic’s College, Kanjirappally. The workshop will deliberate on the uncertain situation in the plantation sector, fluctuating rubber prices, internal and global pressures, and the future of the Rubber Board.
The keynote address will be delivered by former Planning Board member and Professor at the Centre for Development Studies, Dr. K.N. Harilal, followed by presentations by Prof K.J. Joseph, Director of GIFT, P. Georgekutty, Member, Rubber Board, Suresh Koshy, Patron, National Consortium of Regional Federation of Rubber Produce Societies, Consortium General Secretary Babu Joseph, senior journalist K.R. Prahladan, KN Raj School of Economics Joint Director, Prof V. Mathew Kurian and others.
